RUMOR: Paradox Unsure What to Show the 10th?

Harlequin 0 192 Article rating: No rating

According to Discord member RiggaTony, he has this to say about a discussion that happened with Community Ambassador Feeona on the "Vamily Discord".

They said gameplay on the 10th in the malkavian video.
But I did ask a community ambassador in another discord about any details on the 10th like how the news was gonna happen because I haven't seen Paradox put on a panel before. And I was told that they haven't confirmed what is being shown on the 10th.. not sure if that was a case that they didn't know gameplay was promised or.. if we might be getting more than gameplay

Clearly this is unconfirmed by us at this time but if true is interesting so close to this big 'reveal' and there seems to be some uncertainly as to what is going to be included. I have to say Paradox has never come off as a company that is in disarray so while possible it is hard to imagine a week from the reveal and they don't have nailed down what they will show. What do you think? feel free to comment below.

And the First Bit of 'Fake' Media Hits the Webs...

Harlequin 0 288 Article rating: No rating

So this image has been making the rounds on social media. Claimed to come from a Dutch online store advert it shows what appears to be the artwork on the case of the console version of Bloodlines 2. What struck us here at WoD News is the PEGI rating, a year out and it ALREADY has been vetted and rated? Something seemed off so we investigated.

RPS: Malkavians confirmed for Bloodlines 2: we talked to Brian Mitsoda on the new clan reveal

Harlequin 0 161 Article rating: No rating

Brian Mitsoda spoke to RPS about his thought process for Malkavians this time around and how he isn't going to be as flippant with them or what it means to have mental illness. My, and others, main concern is it being another carbon copy "fishmalk" which he seems to directly address. Which to myself at least is comforting it seems he will take a bit different in direction. Here is a snip;

Mitsoda says that this time their approach to the Malks will be thinking more about their insight and how it would affect a person who had it, and not presenting it as hilarious. “I think in general we kind of are going to be approaching the Malks in Bloodlines 2 as more playing up the kind of darker aspect of having that network of voices and that insight, and almost a little bit of paranoia,” he said. “I think there will be things that people will like about the Malks, the same things that they liked about the first one in that they said things that were very strange.”

He said that, since Malkavians are vampires, they’re not going to be a direct one-to-one with human mental illness, but they have been doing a significant amount of research. They looked into a lot of different mental illnesses, read medical papers, as well as looking at the experience from the point of view of people who actually do hear voices. And, because this is a work of fiction, they’ve been looking at how mental illness is portrayed in other works of fiction (Mitsoda was unimpressed by the majority of portayals in films, for example). “I think in general we can’t focus on any one mental illness, so we have to keep the Malks to our kind of interpretation of their experience as far as their insight, their network, the tragedy of it.” Malkavians are also an uncommon Clan in Seattle, so there’s already an inherent bias against them in vampy society that you’ll be dealing with.

It should be fairly obvious, then, that the Malkavians are going to be a challenge for the team. On the one hand, a few loud voices in the community are convinced that the Malks won’t be in Bloodlines 2, and if they are they’ll be “ruined” by political correctness gone, ahaha, mad. On the other, there’s a very good argument that in 2019 a character whose signature trait is mental illness is probably not going to come off well. As I write this, it seems to me that Malkavians are very much like a simulated nuclear war, in that the only winning move is not to play. But that doesn’t sound like it was an option.

The Last is the Clan of Malkov

Harlequin 0 157 Article rating: No rating

When does vamp daddy Harlequin steer you wrong? I am a man of refined etiquette and would not lower myself to tell all the folks who hated on me "I told you so".... buuuuut.. yea I told you so... 😉 On a more serious note we did get something wrong. The theory was clans with the same disciplines would get different sub powers within them. Clearly that is not the case, as Auspex is identical to the Tremere. Can't win them all folks!

That said here is all the details of the clan and it's media. Feel free to post your thoughts below;

Malkavians possess knowledge of things no other clan can comprehend, but this knowledge comes at a price. The mind of a Malkavian can be afflicted by psychosis, compulsive disorders, or other uncounted illnesses. Uneasy in their presence and distrustful of their motives, the Seattle Kindred community has traditionally ostracized Malkavians. Some, however, recognize Malkavians’ unique abilities and regard them as Oracles and skilled advisers.

Malkavians invade the minds of their victims, using Dementation to impart an imperfect version of their psychoses on them. Auspex allows Malkavians to slip deeper into their condition, expanding their senses beyond the boundaries of their bodies.

  • Haunt - Imparts an unseen spectre in the minds of victims. Unable to control themselves, they’ll try to flee in a panic.
  • Berserk - Fills the vampire’s targets with an uncontrollable rage, causing them to lash out at anything nearby - even the air itself, if no better target is available.

Use of Dementation, while thoroughly unsettling, is not a Masquerade Violation.

  • Aura Sense - Allows the vampire to spot NPCs through walls, read crowds at a glance, and mark individuals, staying aware of them even over long distances. It also reveals the weaknesses of a marked NPC.
  • Psychic Projection - Forces the vampire’s mind from their body, allowing it to  explore the area in astral form and use Aura Sight to mark any character they spot. The vampire’s senses have developed to such an extent that they may end up telepathically overwhelming the senses of others for a short while.

Use of Auspex is not a Masquerade Violation.

Like the first Bloodlines, playing as a Malkavian will change the way the city reacts to your presence and reveal unique dialogue options not available to other clans.

UPDATED: Brian Mitsoda on the Reveal Video? Also In-Game footage Compiled

Harlequin 0 176 Article rating: No rating

It's been reported on social media there was a slip of the keyboard on the official BL2 Discord where a Paradox staff member mentioned Brian Mitsoda will be the guest on the last clan reveal video tomorrow. I swear I saw this post too earlier in the day however I now can't find it to save my life. So that this as a strong rumor for now.

video tomorrow. I swear I saw this post too earlier in the day however I now can't find it to save my life. So consider this as a strong rumor for now.

UPDATE (Thanks to earwen)

Also someone was kind enough to blow up all the 5 sec in-game footage at the end of the reveal videos offering a closer inspection of the action. You get a much better sense of what is happening and can see the art direction much clearer. I have to say as a whole I like what I am seeing. The FX looks amazing and the physics looks incredible. Yes the textures on the models do have that pre-Alpha Barbie doll plastic look, but that is to be expected. Watch below and post your thoughts in the comments.
